On 23 September, the Ambassadors Club invited to a special event in the Maritim Hotel Berlin in Stauffenbergstrasse. The president of the club, Mania Feilcke-Dierck welcomed as an honored guest of the evening the Vice-President of the German Bundestag, Member of the Bundestag, Claudia Roth.
The evening was held under the theme “Women for Peace” and was directed especially to the ladies of high diplomacy. Claudia Roth mentioned that she sees with pleasure that more and more countries deploy female ambassadors to Germany. Currently, there are more than 30 female ambassadors in Berlin and especially Sub-Saharan Africa is an example. This was already seen by the presence of female ambassadors from Ghana, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Guinea, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo. But also women from other parts of the world attended the event, as the Excellencies from Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Finland and Switzerland.
Women play an important role worldwide, particularly in the stabilization and conflict prevention. Claudia Roth will therefore continue to work for their strengthening, as it was decided by the UN (SC Resolution 1325).
