On November 23rd Günther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, was guest at the monthly Jour Fixe of the Ambassadors Club. The President of the club, Mania Feilcke-Dierck was delighted to welcome the Excellencies from all over the world in the Grand Hyatt Hotel at the Potsdamer Platz.
In his speech Economy, the Euro and the Digital Revolution – how do we secure the future of Europe? Günther Oettinger underlined the importance of a uniform European digital standard. Europe must adjust to the digital revolution, which presents a major challenge. Digitisation will change not only the industry, but also the whole economy and all areas of life fundamentally.
Despite the funeral ceremony of former chancellor Helmut Schmidt in Hamburg, numerous ambassadors enjoyed the invitation. The ambassadors were highly impressed by Günther Oettinger’s speech as well as by his answers to their questions. He captured everyone’s attention by his professional but also friendly performance.
